ABOUT US

Enrollment and Eligibility
JumpStart accepts children ages 2, 3, and 4 years old.
Full-time care is based on a 10-hour per day, 5-day per week schedule, totaling 50 hours weekly. Any additional hours beyond this schedule require an extended care fee.
Curriculum
Children achieve their long-range goals by completing many small steps taken almost playfully. They are encouraged to progress at their own pace and rhythm according to their capabilities, learning styles, and personalities, inspiring them to learn with confidence. We focus on each child’s individual success rather than on what they do not yet know.
Children are inquisitive explorers and eager learners. JumpStart incorporates the Creative Curriculum and Frog Street Curriculum, both of which challenge and nurture children’s growing interests. This theme-based approach is planned weekly and includes:
-
Sensory awareness
-
Creative and expressive arts
-
Dramatic play
-
Block building
-

-
Language and reading development
-

Every activity is designed to give children a sense of ownership in their learning and to expose them to diverse cultures. The program fosters creativity and imagination through various materials and experiences. Each age group has unique needs, and our teachers are skilled in guiding children with care, knowledge, and enthusiasm.
Diversity
We welcome families of all faiths, ethnic origins, and races, but our definition of diversity goes far beyond these areas. We believe diversity also includes differences in physical, cognitive, and social abilities. At JumpStart, we strive to create a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects each child’s unique strengths while also embracing their home culture and experiences.
One of the most valuable ways we teach children about diversity and respect is by modeling the behavior we want to see—treating all people with kindness and respect.
While it is impossible to list every activity we do each day to encourage acceptance, here are a few ways we incorporate diversity into our program:
-
During enrollment, we invite families to share their home traditions with us.
-
We collaborate with Child Care Network and the State of Virginia to ensure that families eligible for tuition assistance can access high-quality care.
-
We welcome families and community members to share ideas or resources that can further enrich the services we provide.
-
Our teachers use props, books, and materials that reflect diversity in all areas of learning, ensuring children see themselves—and others—represented in their classroom.
